Possible online services disruption due to Internet related outage

A worldwide technology outage is causing disruption to some State of Illinois online systems.  We are aware of this issue and are diligently working on restoration.

Ready to Switch? (The Switching Process)

When you choose to enroll with an Alternative Retail Electric Supplier (ARES), your new supplier will notify your electric utility of the change. The electric utility will then contact you by mail to confirm selection of this ARES to be your electric supplier. Switching is easy, the utility and ARES work together to switch your electric supply. No one will come to your home or business to flip a switch, and there is no disruption of service.

There is no deadline for choosing an electric supplier. The effective date of your supplier change depends on your next meter read date. If you return to the utility's electric supply service after having received service from an ARES, you might have to stay on the utility's electric supply service for 12 months before you can select an ARES again.

No matter who you choose to supply your electricity, you will continue to call your electric utility for outages, emergency services and questions about your residential service. The quality, reliability, and maintenance of your electric service will not change as it continues to be regulated by the Illinois Commerce Commission.
